Deep blue eyes glistened and black hair shone in Hollow Bastion's midday sunlight as a young nobody walked through the market place on her way to the bailey. Rae's hands were resting on the back of her head as she strolled past shoppers rushing all over the place, trying to get errands finished. The 17-year-old could feel eyes on her from all over the place as she hummed softly to herself. It was quite obvious that she was "different," but people just didn't seem to be able to put their finger on what was different about her. Not that she really gave a crap. Leaving the market, Rae stopped humming the tune that had been stuck in her head all day. The sudden silence was enough for her to notice the all too familiar scritch, scritch of little black claws on pavement. Coming to a halt in the middle of the “road”, Rae turned to look behind her. The little scratching noises had stopped as the heartless blinked at her several feet away. Sure enough, the little shadow was following her again. Lacking a heart, it wasn’t a threat to the young nobody, but it did get in the way every now and then and the amount of times she’d tripped over it were countless. Though she paid little, to no attention to the shadow she couldn’t help but secretly like having it around. Rae turned back to the road, listening as the scratching of little claws began once more; walking further down the path until she reached the large stone steps that led to the bailey. Something didn’t feel right… the feeling of being watched. Perhaps she was just being paranoid, but usually these little hunches she had turned out to be correct. Unconsciously, the black-haired girl’s hand moved slightly to the handle of the pair of blades that hung from her belt.

"Dimiii, dimiii! I want some icecream!" "Me too!" "Me tooo!"
Why had he ever said his real name in front of these kids? Oh yeah. So they would stop giving him names that were mostly based on his ears. Not that he was ashamed of his ears. Not at all. The girls around thought they were cute, so he told himself. He couldn't care less for little brats to call him a fairy princess. But now they had raped his name, giving it a cuter sound. Brats. He got a bit used to it, though. They were always trying to get first, jumping up to the bar to get Dimitri's attention. He liked attention. Just not this kind.
"I want choco!" "Chocolate is gross..." "Is not!"
"Yeah, yeah.. Coming." Dimitri had been sitting lazily on a wooden chair inside the shop, safely out of the sun's reach. It had been hot all day. Costumers seem to come from everywhere to get some nice cooling icecream in the afternoon to make the heat more bearable. Dimitri got out of the chair, approaching the kids with a glare that was actually directed to the sun that suddenly shone bright in his face. The kids had stopped jumping and yelling now, waiting with their cute, little, happy faces.
"Alright, who was first? You." He nodded to a dark haired girl that stood on the further side and had waited patiently from the beginning. "Aww. But I was first!" "Nuh-uh. I was!" "Liar!" "Shut up!"
Kids.
Dimitri smirked a bit inside while giving the girl her strawberry icecream who now happily skipped off. The next wanted vanilla, not really his favorite. His favorite was a cherry flavor. It was less sweet than strawberry and chocolate, but still tasted really good. Dimitri saw how the crowd of kids reduced by the minute. While reaching out the ordered frozen deserts, his light blue eyes had spotted something. A figure. Someone with dark hair was strolling over the town's square. The people that were rushing by made it impossible for him to see whether it was a guy or girl. He did pick up the strange clothes the person was wearing though. Not the usual you see around here. It had caught is attention in immediate, arousing his curious mind quite a bit.
This person.. I have never seen these odd clothes. Could this person possibly be from another world? Just like me? Half paying attention to the children that stood before him, he gave each one of them quickly some icecream, not paying attention to what flavor they actually wanted. He wanted to leave the shop and follow the stranger.
"Hey! This isn't sea-salt, this is chocolate!", one started to whine. The other two then followed. "Just pretend you like it." he answered absently, eyes following the retreating figure of the stranger, having his right hand quickly reverse the hanging open-sign to 'closed' and quickly walked to the back of the shop, once outside starting the pursuit.
Having reached the Borough, he could see a glimpse of the stranger walk around the corner and stopped. He had to think. How was he going to approach this person? "Hey you, where are you from and what the hell are you doing here?' straight to the point but rather rude. Did he actually care? Not really. Dimitri continued walking to the corner to the road where he expected the person to walk, but was a little hesitant. The sound of boots walking had come to a stop now. He could hear an other but familiar sound replace them. A heartless. He knew very well how they sounded from his countless other little trips through the town. The annoying little useless fucks.
However Dimitri didn't want to come over like some stalker, he decided to just show his presence. The guy sure didn't want the person to disappear before getting answers to his questions.
"Not going to kill it?" , was asked with a clear voice, followed by casually stepping into the road to reveal himself.

The sound of small, angry children could be heard from the stone steps. Rae put her hand up to her forehead. She could feel the migrane coming already. The kids here never shut up. That uneasy feeling was still there, become increasingly persistant with every passing second. She was definately not alone. The dark haired girl looked around for a moment, though her deep blue eyes could see no one. She took a deep breath before starting up the stairs. That's when he spoke up. "Not going to kill it?" Rae jumped at the sound, unconsciously but rapidly pulling both the arm-length blades out of her belt. They were a shiney, metallic black with silver edges. The handes were round and joined around the center. The first blade smooth, but sharp, the second serrated. She couldn't help it... it was habit. She pointed the tips of the blades at him. The nobody looked the tall man up and down. He looked familiar. Wait... she knew. He worked at the icecream shop in the market place. Rae lowered her weapons to hang at her side. "Do yourself a favor... don't do that again." Rae's soft voice snapped quietly. She replaced her weapons to her belt, looking at the heartless. The confused looking little shadow made her smile slightly as it looked from the man, to Rae, and back again. "I can't. I mean... I won't" Wait a second, girl, why does he need to know? He doesn't know you, said the little voice in the back of her head. "Maybe not, but at least tell him why you won't kill it," said a second voice. An argument started in the back of her mind the migrane slowly becoming worse. Rae sighed a little. "When it's the only living being that generally acknowledges your presence, no matter how annoying it can be, you tend to take a liking to it. Even if it does get in the way. The amount of times I've tripped over the little bastard are countless but at least something takes notice of me." the girl continued to stare down at the man, her bright blue eyes boring into him. "You work at the icecream store, right? Did you start that?" she asked, gesturing towards the market place where angry, yelling kids could be heard.

Standing a few meters away from the youth he didn't remember seeing before, Dimitri watched how hands swiftly hauled a pair of blades and kept them in a quite threatening position. Their tips brightly reflecting in the sun, pointed out to his face, making him glare a bit. A little rude or just plain paranoid? He couldn't decide.
The dark haired man folded his arms in a nonchalant manner, showing he wasn't really disturbed by the sudden action. A little odd maybe for someone who was completely defenseless at the moment, but the man just wasn't the person to get scared easily. Especially not with some teen-ager. He was more leaning toward being a daredevil anyway, always tending to provoke a little with his actions.
His glistening light blue eyes now trailed the length of the sharp blades that remained in their position, noticing they were both different, then looked up to meet the stranger's face. He couldn't really tell whether the person was a guy or a girl, but sighted deep blue eyes that seem to take in his body. Dimitri smirked. Ok. Maybe he was able to tell after all the time he shifted his eyes a bit down. - Yeah. Definately a girl.
"Do yourself a favor.. don't do that again." The words coming from the girl interrupted his mind. He watched her hands place the blades back aside her hips and look at the heartless he had been referring to with a soft smile. Who now wanted to grant an evil being a smile? It took people their hearts, therefor evil. Heartless Dimitri came across however, seem to only stare which got to annoy the hell out of him. This one didn't seem to differ from its family either..
"I can't. I mean.. I won't."
"Well, I'd gladly help you with the deed..," he muttered, looking down at the innocent looking being, his arms still folded. But hey, this wasn't why he had come all the way down here. Well, maybe not all the way. But he still wanted to know where she had been coming from. Though, the girl seemed to be first with getting to the questions. It got him a little confused, too. It seemed she was familiar with the town.
"You work at the icecream store, right? Did you start that?"
Dimitri had come used to yelling kids and hadn't really noticed the annoying sound of it until the blue eyed girl brought it up. He looked over his shoulder and let his arms hang loosely aside his body now.
"Those kids? They are just missing me, really." he replied with a small smirk and looked back at the girl still standing in his opposite. Funny. The smirk dissolved quickly when hearing the kids yell: "Let's go get him!" , causing the older guy to growl softly. When are they going to fucking quit it already?? Instead of pondering what to do next, Dimitri's action went over to his instinct to 'survive' and walked in a quick pace to wards the girl, reaching out his hand for her to grab. No doubt he was going to leave her. He hadn't forgotten about why exactly he had left the shop just yet.
"You don't want to stay here. Trust me on this one." If he had to, he'd drag her along. But he decided he wasn't willing to chance ending up with a blade up his ass just for doing so. No matter how cute she just had sounded with her little speech.

((Ivor: No, not quite. Roleplay is different to FanFic in a way that it's very spontanious. Unlike a fan-fic, there's really no planning involved. Roleplay is almost like a fun game. At least, that's how I see it.))
Icecream boy seemed very surprised by the smile Rae had given the heartless. Hmph, she thought. If he has a problem with it, why doesn't he just leave? Come to think of it, there seemed like there was something holding him there. Something he wanted to say. "Well, I'd gladly help you with the deed..," Rae's head suddenly snapped in his direction, her deep blue eyes, glaring at him. "Who said I wanted to?" she spat. If he was trying to avoid ending up stabbed, he was going about it all wrong. Her fingers twitched towards her blades. It was definately strange, someone not wanting to get rid of a heartless, but the young nobody didn't care. After all, she couldn't help but have a sense of "familiarity" with shadows. They were not human, and neither was she. "Those kids? They are just missing me, really." Rae raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What makes you-" she was cut off by the sound of running footsteps. Lots of running footsteps. "Let's go get him!" Rae laughed quietly, but loud enough for him to hear clearly. "Sounds like they really miss you." she continued to chuckle a bit, however suddenly ceased as she watched him walk quickly towards him. Was it something she did? Should she pull out her weapons? No. He put out his hand for her to take hold of. "Uh..." taken aback quite a bit, Rae didn't take it, but took a step back. "What do you think you're..." he definately wanted something from her, otherwise he would've just left her. "You don't want to stay here. Trust me on this one." Rae still refused his hand, instead began making her way up the stone steps towards the bailey. "Do I care if the kids have a bone to pick with you? No. This is your problem, not mine."

The guy could have known a girl carrying weapons around would be too stubborn and not willing to follow someone elses lead. Dimitri though, was still considering to just drag her up the stairs so he would be sure she'd go to the Bailey, which of now he was not. But when the girl had answered in dismissal, she really had a point. He was the one the kids were after. Not her. Fine. [/i] Quickly, Dimitri walked in the opposite direction of the stone steps the girl had decided to take, to ward a couple of piled up rock blocks. While jumping on the first one, the sound of little children feet running through the streets looking for their 'Icecream-dealer', had reached his ears, but this time to sound had come from a closer distance. If they would actually find him, they would do horrible things to him. Nowadays kids were terrorist when it came down on their love for icecream. Especially when the hot days came by. No lies. If the brats found out he did not have a good reason for closing the shop way too early, they would first of all tell their mothers. Their mother on their turn wouldn't let their daughters talk to him anymore. No. Even worse. They would complain at his boss. And then...then he would have to wear the outfit for work.... DImitri twitched at that one last thought and with a quick movement lifted himself up by grabbing the edge of the next block with a sudden firmness. He felt the cutting pain of a too sharp edge slice through the soft flesh of his fingers on his left hand when rapidly grabbing the side of the next block, but ignored the stinging pain, continuing until he reached the stone rail. The noise of children still in their pursuit had an awful short distance now. Was the older guy really running away for just kids? Yes, yes he was.. Dimitri, still ignoring the fresh cut in his hand where out blood started to fill its surface and trickle down his fingers, glanced at his left to see if the girl already had reached the platform. Not having caught her appearance, he didn't give his eyes more time to scan what was further ahead, instead turning around and walk down the short dark tunnel that ended at the steel gateway to the Bailey. He was sure the kids wouldn't look there. First of all, they couldn't even open the gate. For that a little more strength was needed, in their case, allot more. Second, there were strange rumors going round the Bailey since a few weeks. Should keep them from trying to enter. With that one soothing thought, Dimitri walked over to a rectangular pillar in the back on the outer left side, after having closed the gates so he could hear when someone entered. He then dropped himself to the ground and leaned against the pillar providing enough room for his back, out of sight for anyone who would walk in. Dimitri closed his eyes, sinking in his own thoughts. He wasn't sure if she would, but really hoped for the younger girl to come. [[Feeling silly and tiired. ..apologies for if there are any typos.]]

Rae merely stood there for a moment, stunned at the sight of a grown man running from some little kids. "What the..." the nobody sighed as she walked to the top of the steps, the sound of the heartless scritch scratching after her. Suddenly, without Rae even realizing it, the sound of footsteps instantly died. The kids looked up at her from the cobblestone pavement. Boy did they look mad. "Hey, have you seen some wierd elf guy down this way?" one of the taller boys asked. He seemed the most angry. Rae hadn't realized that providing a child their icecream had become a federal law. One which resulted in severe and painful punishment, should that law be broken. "Geez, kid, I dunno... I could tell you." she loved to torment the kids. "What's in it for me?" The kids looked even more pissed now. But who was the one holding the weapons, huh? As long as they were in clear view, the kids wouldn't try anything. Not to mention the fact that the 17-year-old was much bigger than them. "Where. Is. He?" Rae strollled casually further towards the bailey, coming to a stop just by the edge of the platform. She smiled slightly as she sat down, hanging her legs over the top. "Well... for starters," she began very loudly. She knew this area very well, and it was obvious (to her) that "elf boy" was waiting in the bailey. She loved to mess with people's heads and her voice was loud enough to hear from there. "He went..." at least, she hoped he could hear her. "That a way." she pointed back towards the market. She didn't do it for him... anything to be rid of the kids. As they sprinted off back in the other direction, Rae got up, dusted off her pants and walked towards the large gates, smiling. The heartless was no longer behind her, instead beside her feet. She didn't even need to touch the gates, instead holding out her palm towards it. A shadowy, black "light" (if you could call it that) surrounded her hand, sending pulses towards the gate. Within seconds it had merely swung open by itself. Rae closed her hand, the black "light" subsiding instantly. Looking around, Rae could sense the guy was there, just couldn't see him; upon second inspection however... his shadow peeked out from behind a wall. Rae walked towards him, her black leather boots heavily impacting the ground, the heartless, still at her heels. She chuckled. "Nice hiding spot..." she stopped a few meters away from him. "Bad news for you though... your shadow's clear as day. What did you want with me earlier anyway?"

A sigh of both relief and frustration escaped the lips of the ageless man still sitting on the grey-blue stone ground. It really had been close for the little devils to find him. He didn't think the girl would still come, though. But she seemed to be familiar with the town, so the chance he would run into her was still there. Thing was though, he didn't like to wait. If he knew he could get something, he wanted it at least the same day. And Dimitri really wanted to know about other worlds. He was sure they were there out there. They just had to. He sure had come from a different one, right? Dimitri shifted his body into a more comfortable position, stretched out his right leg, and lifted his right arm to lazily hang over his knee. Still in deep thoughts about other worlds and the mystery around himself, he finally opened his piercing blue eyes with a slight frown. They were casted on his fingertips pointing to the ground. The cut was hidden from his view, but could feel the sharp, stinging pain in his fingers. Yet, he didn't realize he was bleeding. His eyes watched the dark red blood flow down his fingers and depart at their tips. Everything suddenly seem to go over in slow motion. The red liquid slowly reaching the ground shadowed by his leg then finally plopped into a large pool of dark blood causing the liquid to ripple. The pool seemed way too large for a single cut in the hand. Staring down at the pool, he in a flash saw a face. A strange cold and sickening nervous feeling started to make its way through his whole body. Dimitri clenched his jaw while his eyes slowly widened. His head then suddenly snapped up to his right.
"Nice hiding spot.." The girls voice had brought him back to reality. He looked slightly startled but more confused. He hadn't hear her come in. He looked at her legs.
"Hey..you came." Dimitri said softly still a little in shock from the image he had just seen. However, as soon as he had tore his eyes from it, he couldn't really remember the face anymore. Just the strange feeling it had given him when seeing it. Once more he looked down at the darkened spot right under his hand and saw the same pool of blood, only smaller this time.
"Ow.", Dimitri finally mumbled when bringing his hand to his face to inspect the horizontal cut in his fingers covered with blood. He couldn't really see the cut itself and wiped his hand off on his white shirt which worsened the pain for a few. Looking at the cut once more he saw it was pretty deep and within a couple seconds blood had filled his hand again.
"Bad news for you though... your shadow's clear as day. What did you want with me earlier anyway?"
His eyes went up to the girl again standing a small distance away. Huh? Oh.Yeah. What I want.., he thought lowering his gaze, thinking. "You're not from this world. Where are you from?" , he asked, having the similar innocent and curious look in his eyes kids had when asking their parents where babies were coming from. He didn't feel like explaining why he thought she was coming from different world, nor that he actually was. Both were pretty obvious.
